Bulk Fertilizer

Get Your Bulk Fertilizer at the Douglas County Farmers Co-Op

Fertilizing is a critical part of crop and pasture maintenance, supporting crops by supplying nutrients essential to plant growth. Most fertilizers include three nutrients: Nitrogen, Phosphate, and Potassium, but most come with varying combinations of nutrients. Nitrogen is the most important fertilizer nutrient since it is present in numerous plant components but is not easily attainable by plants.

The Co-Op offers a variety of Nitrogen based fertilizers and can also custom mix fertilizers for your particular needs. To ensure your fields and crops are performing their best, make sure fertilizing is an integral part of your crop/pasture management.

With so many options out there, how do you know which fertilizer you need?

It depends on the fertility of your soil. For best results, perform a soil test to be certain you are applying the right fertilizer for your crops needs. This might seem like an unnecessary step, but doing so will ensure you’re not wasting time and money applying a product that may not give you the results you desire. The good news is the DC Farmers Co-Op can make soil testing a breeze. Swing by the store for a soil sample kit, or bring a sample of your soil in, and we’ll take care of the rest!

Once you’ve received your soil test results, contact our Fertilizer and Landscape Center for product availability and pricing. DC Farmers Co-Op offers bulk and bagged fertilizer (select 50 lb. bags also available in-store), as well as custom mixes to ensure you get exactly what you need. The Co-Op also offers fertilizer spreader rentals, aerial application, and, if you’ve got a soggy field, custom application with our Rubber Duk spreader. The Rubber Duk is a low-impact, four-wheeled articulating machine which can navigate most fields and terrain with ease. This results in a thorough application and coverage of fertilizer. What makes the Rubber Duk unique are its flotation tires, which minimize soil compaction and ruts ensuring the ongoing health and productivity of fields and pastures.

Note: Before we apply fertilizer with the Rubber Duk, we do ask that there is access of 12 feet or wider to your property and/or fields.
